Hey Clay - Plant Folks

Meet the little folks with growing personalities! Hey Clay – Plant Folks turns soft, colourful clay into a collection of 3 plant-inspired characters, inviting children to create a wonderfully quirky world of their own.

With step-by-step video guides in the Hey Clay app, young makers can build each character from simple shapes. Rolling, flattening, pinching and joining the pieces becomes part of the discovery, as a handful of clay gradually takes on a personality. Children can follow the guides or explore their own ideas, experimenting with colour and adding individual touches.

There’s meaningful practice tucked into the making. Handling the pliable clay encourages finger strength, fine motor control and hand–eye coordination, while shaping and positioning smaller details calls for careful observation. Working through a character one step at a time also offers opportunities to practise sequencing, concentration and problem-solving.

Once finished, leave the creations to air-dry and harden, ready to display or inspire a story. Who is the chatterbox of the bunch? Who prefers a quiet corner? Giving each plant folk a name and personality brings language and imaginative storytelling into the experience, too.

A cheerful creative project to enjoy together at home or use as inspiration for small-group making in the classroom, with app-guided support and plenty for busy hands to explore.
