Cuisenaire Rods, sometimes called Number Rods or Relational Rods, are primarily used to teach and explore various mathematical concepts, including counting, sorting, visual estimation, fractions, patterns, and calculations like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.  Each coloured rod corresponds to a specific length, with shorter rods representing smaller numbers and longer rods representing larger numbers, typically from 1 to 10 units in length. 

Cuisenaire rods offer a hands-on approach to learning, allowing students to visually and tactilely understand mathematical relationships and build a strong foundation in numeracy.  They can be used to demonstrate concepts like number composition, equivalence, and the relationships between different quantities.
