Linking Cubes 100pc; 10 Colours

Linking Cubes 100pc; 10 Colours

R 210.00

Big maths ideas start with little cubes.

What does five look like? How many more make ten? Why do two groups of four give the same total as four groups of two? Linking Cubes help children explore these questions with something they can hold, connect, rearrange and count.

With 100 cubes in 10 colours, this versatile maths resource turns abstract concepts into visible, hands-on discoveries. From first counting activities to multiplication, fractions and measurement, children can build a model, test an idea and explain their thinking.

Make numbers make sense

Begin by matching one cube to each number counted, sorting colours and building towers to compare quantities. Placing two cube trains side by side makes “more”, “fewer” and “equal” easier to see, while adding or removing cubes shows exactly how a quantity changes.

Use different colours to explore number bonds: a train of ten might contain six cubes of one colour and four of another. Rearrange the colours to find another way to make ten, helping children discover that the same total can be composed in different ways.

A resource that grows with the learner

As understanding develops, the cubes offer fresh ways to investigate more challenging concepts. Make equal groups for multiplication, share a collection fairly to explore division, or build groups of ten with leftover ones to introduce place value.

Colour-coded cube trains can also represent fractions of a whole. Build a train with eight cubes, make four of them the same colour, and explore how four out of eight represents one half. Children can see the relationship, take it apart and build it again.

Bring maths off the page

Create repeating colour patterns and predict what comes next. Measure everyday objects in cube units, placing cubes end to end without gaps. Build a simple graph to compare results from a class vote, or estimate how many cubes are in a group before counting to check.

Each activity creates opportunities to use meaningful maths language: “longer”, “shorter”, “equal”, “altogether”, “difference” and “groups of”. Asking “How do you know?” encourages children to use their cube models to explain, not just give an answer.

Purposeful learning, hands-on

Ideal for classroom demonstrations, small-group activities and maths practice at home, Linking Cubes let adults adjust the challenge without changing the resource. Start with a small selection for a focused counting task, then introduce more cubes and colours as the learner is ready.

Connecting and separating the pieces also gives children opportunities to practise fine-motor control and hand-eye coordination, while the main focus stays firmly on mathematical exploration.

Count it. Build it. Compare it. Understand it.
